There’s a new buzz going on in the Torah community that I would truly appreciate if you can address as you do everything, by scriptures. What are your thoughts on the Enoch calendar? This is becoming a topic that some are really pushing for and I need your help, as I’m sure I’m not the only one who does.

Commenting on this 2-year old series is probably pretty fruitless now, and that is why I hadn’t commented on any prior episodes yet. With this episode though, something blatant needs to be shared about the text. The Ethiopic text the series is read from is missing an eight verse in chapter 20. This verse that is found in some Greek texts names the 7th archangel that is missing in other manuscripts that only list 6 of them:
“8 Remi’el, one of the holy angels, whom God set over those who rise. These are the names of the angels.”
I am just recently listening to these and apparently that line IS in one of the translations they are reading (if they are reading from more than one). If they are only reading the one with the missing verse, I believe I heard them more than once them quoting name and that title of “over those who rise” and am thinking it is possible that verse is in the translation they are reading from, but in a different place. However I know we are always growing, and I am very curious as to what both Jon and David would pick today — in 2021 — as their most recommended version of The Book of Enoch.
